Performance tuning

Typically performance tuning takes over after the system audit has been done. Sustained performance tuning is the only way to guarantee throughput and related performance gains. We don't do guess work. We offer proven industry accepted methodology to tune the batch and online PeopleSoft tasks.

Key Benefits

  •  Fast online response time
  •  Solve concurrency issues
  •  Meet the batch window
  •  Improved resource utilization

Capabilities

Evaluation of access path

SQL tuning and evaluating existing access path can be carried out on site for your critical batch processes. We use a wide variety of toolsets including DB2PM and RMF to isolate tuning opportunities and focus on problem resolution for online and batch processes. We don't do a guess work. We actually look very closely at all possible tuning opportunities including buffer pool placement and optimization to reduce the I/O rate, a key metric in system wide performance. We can help you minimize your locking and contention.

Batch process tuning

Meeting the batch window is a critical requirement. It is often necessary to conduct sustained tuning to make sure that the processes will perform within a reasonable period. We can offer our domain expertise to help you tune critical batch jobs.

Stress tests

A significant part of the online tuning is to conduct stress tests by simulating an actual production load and monitor all the server components. Starting from the Web Server to the Z/OS, there are many components that need to be tweaked to make sure that the response time at peak load is acceptable.

"Online tuning is actually more complex than tuning the batch work load. Experience suggests to evaluate possible tuning opportunities for online SQL when the time taken for a SQL task exceeds 2 seconds. What do you do?"

This is where our expertise fits right in.
